Today's journal entry: Why would you want a friend who has Interpersonal Skills?

Lesson: We will finish Self-Motivation with notes in section 1. Speech topics to be given. Must mention at least one of the Emotional Intelligence scale the person has. This is for a test grade. We will start on Thursday.

HW: As for the speech...
one notecard written on one side with only the three major points
one minute thirty seconds
topic: An Important Relationship to Me, Why, and the EI Qualities He/She Possesses
Make sure to mention the specific quality
Start strong and end strong with links to and from the body
forms 15% of the grade
one support chair
I will look at the following:
eye contact
confidence/competence
pacing
tone of voice/word selection
facial expressions
energy level

I POSSESS
Interpersonal Skills = This scale combines empathy and social skills.
Persistence = The ability to stick with something
Optimism = The ability to be positive in the face of adversity
Self-Awareness = The ability to understand who you really are
Self-Control = The ability to control your impulses or urges to do something
Empathy = The ability to feel what others feel
Social Skills = The ability to interact with others in a positive, successful way
Self-Motivation = The ability to tell yourself what to do, rather than having to have someone else tell you what to do

Reminders: If you do not do your speech by Thursday the make-up must be done after school on Tuesday. Journals due Thursday.
